Defaults and overrides explained

Defaults save you time by pre-filling new reels with your core information—logo, contact details, headshot, and bio. Set them once in Reel Settings, and every new reel starts with your info already in place.

What has defaults

You can set defaults for:

  • Logo – Your logo image
  • Contact info – Name, job title, email, website, phone
  • Headshot – Your profile photo
  • Biography – Your bio text

The Profile block brings contact info, headshot, and bio together in one place, with separate override toggles for each.

Representation contacts and External Links work differently—see How Representation and External Links work below.

Setting defaults

There are two ways to set or update your defaults:

From Reel Settings

Go to Reel Settings → Personal Information to manage all your defaults in one place.

From the Reel Builder

When editing a block, look for "Save as default…" or "Edit default…" to update your defaults without leaving the builder.

Visual indicators

The Reel Builder shows messages to help you understand what's happening:

  • Orange alert – No default set for this block yet.
  • "Using default [item]." (gray box) – This block is pulling from your saved default.

Overriding defaults on a single reel

Sometimes you need a reel to show different information than your default—a different bio for a specific pitch, or a client-specific headshot. That's what overrides are for.

To override a default:

  1. Expand the block in the Reel Builder
  2. Toggle on "Override default [item]" (e.g., "Override default headshot")
  3. Enter the reel-specific content

The override applies only to that reel. Your default stays unchanged, and other reels continue using the default.

You can override:

  • Logo image
  • Contact info (name, title, email, website, phone)
  • Headshot image
  • Biography text

Representation contacts and External Links don't use the same default/override system. Instead:

  • You create contacts and links in Reel Settings
  • On each reel, you choose which ones to show or hide
  • The contact/link details are shared—if you update a phone number, it updates everywhere that contact appears

External Links can appear in the Profile block (use the "Show Social/External Links" toggle) or in a standalone External Links block.

Key differences

Representation contacts External Links
New items Hidden on all reels by default Shown on all reels by default
To show/hide Toggle on each reel Toggle on each reel

Tip: If you're replacing a representation contact (like switching agents), edit the existing contact instead of creating a new one. That way the updated info appears everywhere automatically.

Common questions

What's the difference between a default and an override?

A default is information that automatically appears on all new reels. An override is when you replace that default with different content on a specific reel.

If I change my default bio, do all my reels update?

Only reels that are using the default. Reels with an override keep their reel-specific content.

How do I know if a reel is using the default or an override?

Look for the gray "Using default [item]." message in the block. If you see that, it's pulling from your saved default. If the "Override default [item]" toggle is on, that reel has custom content.

I added a new representation contact but it's not showing on my reels

New representation contacts are hidden by default. Go to each reel where you want them to appear and toggle them on in the Representation block.

I added an external link and now it's on all my reels

New external links are shown by default. Go to any reel where you don't want it and toggle it off in the External Links block.

Can I have different logos or headshots for different reels?

Yes. Set your main image as the default, then use the "Override default logo" or "Override default headshot" toggle on any reel that needs something different.

What happens if I delete a representation contact?

The contact is removed from all reels where it was showing.

Can I copy an override from one reel to another?

Not directly, but you can copy the entire block using copy/paste. The override content comes with it.
