Inactivity Deletion for Free Accounts
To manage storage and maintain service quality, ReelCrafter may permanently delete content from inactive Free Accounts after a long period with no activity. This article explains what counts as inactivity, when deletion occurs, and how to prevent it.
Who This Applies To
This policy applies only to Free Accounts.
Active paid subscriptions (Starter, Professional, or Hold) are not subject to inactivity deletion.
Important: Starting January 1, 2026, ReelCrafter will begin sending inactivity warnings to Free Accounts. If your account has been inactive for more than 6 months, you will receive notices before any content is deleted.
What Counts as Inactivity?
Your Free Account is considered inactive when there have been no successful logins to your ReelCrafter account for approximately 6 months.
Logging in at any time resets the inactivity timer back to zero.
Notice Schedule Before Deletion
We never delete content from Free Accounts without warning. If your account becomes inactive, you will receive:
- First notice: 30 days before deletion
- Sent about 5 months after your last login
- Warns that content will be deleted in 30 days if no login is detected
- Includes a direct login link to prevent deletion
- Second notice: 7 days before deletion
- Final warning that deletion is approaching
- Final notice: 1 day before deletion
- Last reminder before content is removed
If you log in at any point during this notice period, inactivity deletion is canceled, and the timer resets.
Exception: Active Custom Domain Add-On
If you have an active, paid Custom Domain Add-On on your Free Account, the inactivity deletion policy does not apply while the add-on remains active and paid.
This means:
- Your content is protected from inactivity deletion
- No inactivity notices will be sent
- Your reels remain accessible even without recent logins
This protection only applies while your Custom Domain Add-On is active. If the add-on subscription ends, standard Free Account inactivity rules apply again.
What Gets Deleted?
If your Free Account remains inactive through the entire notice period, we will permanently delete:
- All user content (audio, video, images, documents)
- All reels (portfolio pages and layouts)
- All analytics (view and engagement data)
- All share links (links will no longer work)
Your account itself is not deleted. You can log back in anytime and start fresh with a clean account.
What We Keep
- Account email and login credentials
- Basic account information required by law (for tax, fraud prevention, etc.)
How to Prevent Deletion
- Log in at least once every 6 months.
Any successful login resets the inactivity timer and prevents deletion.
- Upgrade to a paid plan.
Paid subscriptions are not subject to inactivity deletion. If you later downgrade to Free, the Free Account inactivity rules will apply again.
- Keep a Custom Domain Add-On active on Free.
As long as your Custom Domain Add-On is active and paid, inactivity deletion does not apply to your Free Account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does viewing my reels or share links count as activity?
No. Only logging into your ReelCrafter account counts as activity.
If I delete or edit a reel, does that reset the timer?
Yes. Any change you make after logging in includes a successful login, which resets the inactivity timer.
What if I miss the email notices?
Check your spam or promotions folder and add support@reelcrafter.com to your contacts. Make sure your account email is current in your Account Settings.
