Reel Walkthrough

When you create a ReelCrafter account, you may see a quick reel walkthrough that helps you build your first reel in about two minutes. You'll answer a few questions, and we'll set up a polished reel you can customize or share right away.

Everything in the walkthrough is optional and reversible. If you don't have your logo or bio handy, we'll use simple placeholders you can replace anytime.

Walkthrough steps

Step 1: Reel purpose

Question: What are you creating this reel for?

Choose from Pitching, Portfolio, Collaborators, or Just exploring. This helps us generate a default title for your reel. You can change it anytime.

Step 2: Type of work

Question: What kind of work is in this reel?

Choose Music, Sound design & audio, or A mix of both. This helps us label your audio section appropriately. You can rename it later.

Step 3: Add your work

Question: How much do you want to add right now?

You can upload your own tracks or start with example tracks. If you choose examples, you'll see placeholder audio that shows how your reel will look and feel. You can replace everything later.

Step 4: Identity & polish

This step gives your reel a finished, professional look. You can add:

  • Short bio — A few sentences about you and your work
  • Logo — Your brand or personal logo
  • Headshot — A photo of yourself

All of these are optional. If you skip them, we'll use placeholders so your reel still looks polished. You can add or replace these anytime from your reel settings.

Step 5: Confirmation

Your first reel is ready! From here, you can view how listening insights work or go straight to your dashboard.

Analytics preview

After completing the walkthrough, you'll see a quick preview of ReelCrafter's listening analytics. This shows you what you'll see after you share your reel and someone listens.

ReelCrafter shows how people move through your work, not just that they pressed play. You'll see which tracks they listened to, how long they spent, and where they skipped or replayed.

This preview uses sample data so you can understand the analytics before you have real listeners.

What happens after the walkthrough

After the walkthrough, you'll land on your dashboard. Your reel is saved and ready to customize or share.

To edit your reel: Go to your Reel Library and click on the reel to open the Reel Builder.

To share your reel: Create a share link from the reel detail page. Name it after your recipient so you can track who listened.

To create more reels: You can create different reels for different audiences. A portfolio reel for your website, a pitch reel for a specific client, a collaboration reel for a project partner.

Common questions

Can I skip the walkthrough?

Yes. You can skip the entire walkthrough or skip individual steps. If you skip, you can always create a reel later from your dashboard.

Can I change my answers later?

Yes. Everything you set in the walkthrough can be changed from the Reel Builder. The walkthrough just gives you a starting point.

What if I don't have my logo or headshot ready?

No problem. We'll use simple placeholders that still look professional. You can replace them anytime from your reel settings.

Can I delete the reel the walkthrough created?

Yes. If you want to start fresh, you can delete the reel from your Reel Library and create a new one manually.

Do I have to use the example tracks?

No. If you choose to start with examples, you can replace them with your own work at any time. They're just there to show you how your reel will look.

Why do I see sample analytics data?

The analytics preview uses sample data to show you how listening insights work before you have real listeners. Once you share your reel and someone listens, you'll see real data on your dashboard.

I skipped the walkthrough. How do I create my first reel?

Go to your Reel Library and click + Create reel. You'll enter the Reel Builder where you can add tracks, customize your design, and publish when you're ready.
