Tracking Sensitivity

Tracking Sensitivity lets you control how and when visitor activity is tracked on each share link. You can choose from three levels to balance the detail of your tracking data with how aggressively sessions are recorded.

Available on the Starter plan and above.

How it works

Open any share link’s settings and look for the Tracking Settings section. You’ll see a slider with three levels:

  • Off: Tracking is disabled for this link. No sessions are recorded, and email notifications are automatically turned off.
  • On activity: A session is recorded once the visitor interacts with the page, such as moving their mouse, pressing a key, or tapping on a mobile device. This filters out phantom sessions caused by browsers that automatically reload tabs in the background.
  • On open: A session is recorded as soon as the link is opened, whether or not the visitor interacts with the page.

Default behavior

New share links default to On open, so tracking works the same way it always has unless you change it.

Email notifications

Email notifications require tracking to be enabled. If you set the sensitivity to Off, email notifications for that link are automatically disabled. You can re-enable them by switching the sensitivity to On activity or On open.

How to tell if tracking is off

In your share links list, links with tracking disabled show a small eye-slash icon next to the link name so you can quickly spot which links aren’t being tracked.

Common questions

What’s the difference between On activity and On open?

On open creates a session the moment someone opens your link. On activity waits for any kind of interaction first, like a mouse movement or tap. On activity is useful if you’re seeing phantom sessions from recipients whose browsers automatically reload tabs in the background.

Will turning tracking off delete my existing data?

No. Changing the sensitivity level only affects future sessions. Your existing tracking data stays intact.

Can I set different sensitivity levels for different links?

Yes. Tracking sensitivity is set per share link, so you can use On open on one link and On activity or Off on another.

I’m getting email notifications for sessions where nobody actually did anything. How do I fix that?

Switch the link’s tracking sensitivity to On activity. At that level, a session is only recorded when someone interacts with the page, so background tab reloads won’t trigger notifications.

Does On activity miss real visitors?

On activity only skips sessions where there’s zero interaction. If someone actually engages with your content, they’ll trigger a mouse move or tap almost immediately. It’s designed to filter out background noise, not real views.

Can I change the sensitivity level after I’ve shared a link?

Yes. You can change it any time, and it takes effect immediately. It won’t affect sessions that have already been recorded.

What happens if I turn tracking off and then back on?

Your old data is still there. New sessions will start being recorded again based on whatever sensitivity level you choose.

Does tracking sensitivity affect what data is collected, or just when a session starts?

Just when a session starts. Once a session is being tracked, the same data is collected regardless of the sensitivity level.
