How share links work

Share Links are unique URLs you create to share your reels with anyone. This guide explains what Share Links are, the limits and features available on each plan, and what happens to your links when your subscription changes or is canceled.

What Are Share Links?

A Share Link is a URL that lets someone view a specific reel without needing an account. Anyone with the link can view your reel.

Share Links are different from embedded players:

  • Share Links: URLs you send directly (email, messaging, social, etc.).
  • Embedded players: Audio players placed on external websites using embed code.

Key difference: Embedded players continue working on the Hold Plan. Share Links do not.

What Happens to Share Links When Your Account State Changes

Account on Hold Plan

Share Links are disabled at your next renewal date.

  • All Share Links return a “Oops, we couldn’t find that reel!” message
  • Links reactivate automatically when you return to an active plan (including Free)

Note: Embedded players continue working on Hold, but Share Links do not.

See our Hold Plan Guide for more details.

Subscription Canceled

Share Links work until the end of your billing period.

  • Links stay active until your current term ends
  • After that, your account moves into a canceled state
  • All Share Links are disabled during the post-cancellation grace period
  • If the account is deleted, Share Links are permanently removed

See What Happens to Your Content After Cancellation for full details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I have multiple Share Links for the same reel?
Yes. Each link is separate and has its own analytics and settings.

Q: If I deactivate a Share Link, can I reactivate it later?
Yes. As long as you’re within your plan's Share Link limit, you can reactivate a deactivated link.

Q: What happens if I try to create a Share Link above my plan’s limit?
You'll be prompted to upgrade, or you can deactivate an existing link to make room.

Q: Can I change the slug/URL of an existing Share Link?
It depends on the type of link:

  • System-generated URLs: No. Create a new Share Link instead.
  • Personalized URLs (Starter/Professional): Yes. You can edit the personalized URL in your Share Link settings.

Q: Do Share Links expire automatically?
Only if you enable link expiration (Professional only). Otherwise, links stay active until you deactivate or delete them.

Q: What's the difference between deactivating and deleting a Share Link?

  • Deactivating turns the link off temporarily—you can reactivate it later.
  • Deleting removes it permanently and cannot be undone.
