Image recommendations

  • Size: 1400×1400 to 3000×3000 pixels for best display quality
  • Aspect ratio: Square (1:1). Non-square images may be cropped or distorted.
  • Format: JPG (preferred for compatibility) or PNG
  • File size: Under 5MB for upload; under 500KB recommended if downloads are your primary use case

Album art displays at various sizes—from large cards in gallery view to small thumbnails on playlists. Higher resolution images look sharper everywhere.

If your recipients will download files

When recipients download your tracks, ReelCrafter embeds album art in the file's ID3 tags. Large images increase the downloaded file size and may not display on older devices like car stereos.

For best compatibility with all playback devices, use a compressed JPG between 500×500 and 1400×1400 pixels, under 500KB. This balances image quality with broad device support.

Common questions

What size should album art be?

For display quality, use 1400×1400 to 3000×3000 pixels. If recipients will download your tracks, keep the image under 500KB for compatibility with all playback devices.

Does album art show on reels automatically?

No. In the Media block settings, toggle on "Show album art" to display it next to the waveform when tracks play.

Will my embedded album art be imported?

Yes. If your audio file has album art in its metadata, ReelCrafter extracts and displays it automatically when you upload.

Can I use different album art for different reels?

No. Album art is attached to the track itself and appears the same everywhere that track is used.

What's the difference between album art and a banner?

Album art is attached to individual audio tracks and displays next to the waveform. A banner is a wide image that appears at the top of a reel in the Banner block—it's part of your reel design, not your audio.

Why doesn't album art show in list view?

The Audio library's list view prioritizes metadata columns over images. Switch to gallery view to see album art on your track cards.

What happens to album art when recipients download?

ReelCrafter embeds album art in the downloaded file's ID3 tags. Large images increase file size and may not display on older devices, so keep download-focused artwork under 500KB.
