Trash and recovery

When you delete most items in ReelCrafter, they go to Trash and stay there for 30 days before being permanently deleted. During that time, you can restore them or permanently delete them sooner. But some items are removed permanently right away.

What can be trashed

These items go to Trash when deleted and can be restored within 30 days:

  • Tracks (audio)
  • Reels
  • Playlists
  • Videos
  • Images
  • Files

Items that skip the Trash

These items are removed immediately and don't go to Trash:

  • Folders: Removed immediately, but contents are moved to the parent folder or "Unfiled" (not removed)
  • Snippets: Tied to their source track. When you delete a track, its snippets are permanently removed with it.
  • Share links: Deactivated or removed immediately. There is no undo.

Deleting items

How do I delete an item?

Select the item and click Delete (or use the three-dot menu). A confirmation dialog appears explaining what will happen.

For reels, tracks, videos, and playlists, you'll need to check "I understand the consequences of this action" before confirming.

Can I delete multiple items at once?

Yes. Select multiple items using the checkboxes, then click Delete. All selected items move to Trash together.

What happens immediately when I delete?

Some effects happen right away, before the 30-day Trash period:

  • Reels: All share links stop working immediately. Recipients can no longer access the reel.
  • Playlists: All playlist links stop working immediately.
  • Tracks: Removed from all reels and embeds immediately, including any snippets made from that track.
  • Videos: Removed from all reels immediately.

Restoring items

Where is Trash?

Trash is at the bottom of the left navigation. Click it to see all deleted items.

How do I find items in Trash?

The Trash view shows all deleted items in one list. You can:

  • Filter by type: Click the filter chips at the top (Track, Reel, Video, etc.) to show only certain types
  • Sort: Click column headers to sort by name, created date, deleted date, or time until permanent deletionEach item shows when it was deleted and when it will be permanently deleted.

How do I restore an item?

  1. Go to Trash
  2. Select the items you want to restore using the checkboxes
  3. Click Restore X item(s)

Items are restored immediately to their original folder. If the original folder was deleted, items go to "Unfiled."

Note: If you're over your storage quota, you won't be able to restore items until you free up space or upgrade your plan.

Note: Restoring a reel doesn't automatically reactivate its share links. You'll need to check that links are set to Active after restoring.

Permanent deletion

When are items permanently deleted?

Items in Trash are automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after you delete them. Once permanently deleted, items cannot be recovered and all associated tracking data is lost.

Can I permanently delete items sooner?

Yes, two ways:

  • Permanently delete selected items: Select items in Trash, then click Permanently delete X item(s)
  • Empty entire Trash: Click Empty trash to permanently delete everything at once

Both actions require you to check "I understand all of this will be gone forever" before confirming.

Common questions

Do items in Trash count against my storage quota?

No. Items stop counting against your quota as soon as you delete them. However, if you're already over your quota, you won't be able to restore items until you free up space or upgrade your plan.

Can I recover an item after 30 days?

No. After 30 days, items are permanently deleted from our servers and cannot be recovered.

What happens to share links when I delete a reel?

All share links stop working immediately when you delete a reel. They don't wait for the 30-day Trash period. If you restore the reel, you'll need to verify that share links are set back to Active.

What happens to tracking data when I permanently delete a reel?

All tracking event history for that reel is permanently deleted. If you might need the analytics data, review it before deleting.

If I delete a track, does it disappear from my reels?

Yes, immediately. The track is removed from all reels and embeds as soon as you delete it, even while it's still in Trash. Restoring the track doesn't automatically add it back to reels; you'll need to re-add it manually.

What happens when I delete a folder?

Folders don't go to Trash. The folder is removed immediately, but its contents are moved to the parent folder or "Unfiled," not deleted.

Can I undo removing a share link?

No. Share links don't go to Trash. If you remove a share link, you'll need to create a new one.

Is Trash available on all plans?

Yes. All plans have the same 30-day Trash retention and restore capabilities.
