Reel detail page

The reel detail page is your control center for a reel: create share links, view metrics, configure embedded players, and see what media is included. Click any reel in your Reel library to open its detail page.

Jump to: Actions · Share Links · Reel Purpose · Metrics · Tags · Tabs · Common questions

Actions

At the top of the page you'll find the back button, the reel name (click the pencil to edit), and actions you can take. If you don't see a specific action, check the three-dot menu.

Available actions:

  • Edit in Reel Builder (or Resume editing if a draft exists): Open the reel in the Reel Builder
  • Preview: View the reel as recipients will see it
  • Duplicate: Create a copy of the reel with all its blocks, settings, and media (only available for published reels)
  • Move to folder: Organize the reel into a folder
  • Discard draft: Delete unpublished changes (only appears when a draft exists and the reel has been published at least once)
  • Delete: Move the reel to Trash

The Share Links section appears below the reel name. This is where you create and manage links for sharing your reel with others. For a full guide to share links, see Share link basics.

Each share link has its own settings and tracking. Create multiple links to track different recipients separately, for example one link for "Netflix Music Team" and another for "HBO Project."

The table shows:

  • Name: Your internal name for the link (recipients don't see this)
  • Sessions: Number of times someone opened the link
  • Created: When the link was created
  • Options: Icons showing which settings are enabled (password, expiration, downloadable, etc.)
  • Active: Toggle to enable or disable the link
  • Copy Link: Copy the URL to your clipboard

Click the arrow on any row to expand settings for that link: personalized URL, password protection, expiration date, download options, and notification preferences.

Note: You must publish your reel at least once before you can create share links.

Reel Purpose

The Reel Purpose selector lets you categorize why you created this reel. This helps ReelCrafter understand how you use the platform and may inform future insights and recommendations.

Available purposes include:

  • Targeted pitch: Pitch for a specific project (film, TV series, etc.)
  • General reel: Showcase your work to multiple people
  • Approvals: Get feedback from a client
  • File delivery: Deliver files to a client or collaborator
  • Web embed: Embed your reel on a website
  • Sync licensing pitch: Pitch for sync licensing
  • Music library pitch: Pitch to a music library
  • Music festival/venue demo: Submit for venue or festival consideration
  • Other: Specify a custom purpose

Setting a purpose is optional. You can change or remove it at any time.

Metrics

The Metrics card shows engagement data for your reel:

  • Sessions Across All Share Links: A chart showing when people opened your reel
  • Embedded Player Activity: A chart showing plays from your embedded player (if you have one)

For detailed session-by-session data, visit your Dashboard. To learn more about what sessions track, see Dashboard: Understanding Recent Activity.

Tags

Below the metrics you'll find the tag input. Add tags to organize your reels and use them with Smart Folders. Type to search existing tags or create new ones. For more details, see Tags.

Tabs

The bottom section has four tabs showing different aspects of your reel:

Media

Lists all media in your published reel, organized by type: Audio, Video, Images, and Files. This gives you a quick overview of what's included without opening the Reel Builder.

Embedded Player

Available on Starter and Professional plans.

Create an audio player you can embed on your website. Customize colors, height, and display options. The embed code is provided after you create the player.

Options include:

  • Display album art: Show album artwork in the player
  • Hide track notes: Remove public notes from the player
  • Hide ReelCrafter logo: Remove branding (Professional plan only)

Note: Embedded players only include audio from the first Media block. Videos are not supported in embedded players.

Common questions

How do I duplicate a reel?

Click the Duplicate button on the Reel Details page, or use the 3-dot menu on any reel in your Reel Library and select Duplicate. You'll be prompted to enter a name for the new reel. The duplicate includes all blocks, settings, theme, and media from the original. Share links and analytics are not copied.

Why can't I create a share link?

You need to publish your reel at least once before creating share links. Open the reel in the Reel Builder and click Publish.

How do I track who opened my reel?

Create separate share links for each recipient. Name them descriptively (e.g., "Netflix Music Team"). View session data on your Dashboard to see when each link was opened and what was played. See Dashboard: Understanding Recent Activity for details.

Can I deactivate a share link without deleting it?

Yes. Toggle the Active switch off. The link will stop working, but you keep the tracking data. Toggle it back on anytime to reactivate.

What's the difference between Preview and a share link?

Preview shows your reel with a warning banner that it's not for sharing. Share links are what you send to recipients. Always use share links for actual sharing so you can track engagement.

Why doesn't my embedded player show all my audio?

Embedded players only include audio from the first Media block. If you have multiple Media blocks, only the first one appears in the embed.

How do I change the thumbnail shown in my Reel library?

The thumbnail is generated automatically each time you publish. To change it, edit and republish your reel.

How do I change the image that appears when I share my link on social media?

Go to the Social Sharing tab and upload a custom image. This controls the Open Graph image that appears in link previews on social media and messaging platforms.
