Changing your name in ReelCrafter

Your name shows up in a few different places in ReelCrafter, and each one is updated separately. Here's where to find them.

Default name on your reels

The name that appears on your reels by default is set in your Personal Information settings. This name is used by the Contact Info block, Profile block, and Biography block in the Reel Builder.

To update it:

  1. Go to Reel Settings > Personal Information
  2. Edit the Name field
  3. Click Update defaults

You'll see a confirmation dialog that says "Warning: This will affect all of your reels, except for the ones where you've overridden the default." Check the box to confirm, and your new name will apply to all your existing and future reels.

Overriding your name on a specific reel

If you want a different name on one particular reel without changing your default, you can override it directly in the Reel Builder.

The Contact Info block and the Profile block both pull your name from your Personal Information defaults. To use a different name on a specific reel:

  1. Open the reel in the Reel Builder
  2. Click on the Contact Info or Profile block
  3. Toggle Override default contact info
  4. Edit the name field

That reel will keep the name you set here, even if you change your defaults later. For more on how defaults and overrides work, see Defaults and overrides explained.

The Biography block also displays your default name, but it can't be overridden directly in the block. If you need to change the name shown in a Biography block, update it in the Contact Info block for that particular reel.

Billing and invoice name

The name on your invoices and receipts is separate from the name on your reels. To update it:

  1. Go to Billing > Billing Information
  2. Update the First name (given name) and Last name (family name) fields
  3. Save your changes

This name only appears on your invoices. None of your billing information is ever displayed on your reels. If you want to change the name on your reels, head to Reel Settings > Personal Information instead.

Common questions

I looked in Preferences, but there's nothing there to edit my name. Where is it?

The Preferences page only includes date/time format settings and Early Access (beta features). To change the name on your reels, go to Reel Settings > Personal Information. For the name on your invoices, go to Billing > Billing Information.

Will changing my default name update all my existing reels?

Yes. Changing your name in Personal Information updates every reel that's using the default. Any reels where you've overridden the name will stay as they are.

Can I use a different name on different reels?

Yes. Set your most common name as the default in Personal Information, then override it on individual reels using the Contact Info or Profile block in the Reel Builder.

How do I change my name on my invoice or receipt?

Go to Billing > Billing Information and update the First name and Last name fields. This is separate from the name that appears on your reels.

Does my billing name show up on my reels?

No. Your billing name and your reel display name are completely separate. Billing information only appears on your invoices.
